Step 03 / 06
Generic plans coach an average person. Connect your training history and your coach builds for the athlete you actually are.
In your coach chat, say "connect my Strava" โ Claude walks you through authorising it.
Garmin user? Link Garmin Connect โ Strava first (free, auto-forwards every activity). Then connect Strava as above.
Ask your coach to analyse your last 3 months and tell you what it sees โ volume trend, consistency, intensity mix, where your numbers from Step 2 look off, and any injury risks (volume spikes, long gaps you're returning from, weeks with no easy days) so the plan gets built around them.
The most common self-coaching failure hides in plain sight: nearly every ride and run drifts into the same comfortably-hard middle effort โ the grey zone. Too hard to build your aerobic base, too easy to raise your ceiling. A generic plan can't see you doing it. Your data shows it in one chart.
Share of weekly training time per intensity zone. Illustrative โ your coach draws yours from your real history.
In June 2026 Strava changed its rules so that reading your data through the automatic connection Claude uses generally needs an active Strava subscription. Your data is still free to look at inside the Strava app itself โ it's just the automatic pull that may now be gated. You're still not blocked:
Connection refused, weird permissions, missing activities โ paste the error into your coach chat.
